Book Discussion:

The Elkton Community Library participates in the One Book South Dakota program by hosting a free book discussion for each book chosen. We also utilize the South Dakota Humanities Council's Book Club To-Go.

If you would like to read any books from past discussions, stop in to the library and check one out.

This program is made possible with a grant from the South Dakota Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Library Story Hour

Is for children age 2 and up, with adult supervision. Story Hour meets weekly and the kids will enjoy stories, themed activities, and are allowed time to check out library materials. Story Hour begins in the fall and ends in spring, but the kids can check out materials any time the library is open. Phone Sherry at the library at 605-542-4591, for dates and times and to register your child for Story Hour. Adult supervision is required.

 Summer Library

Each summer, the community library holds a summer reading program for kids age 3 through grade 5.  There are stories, themed activities, and time to check out materials.  The program runs for five to six weeks, but kids can check out materials anytime the library is open. Pre-Registration is required, so contact Sherry at the library to register your child!
